New Scion FR-S to Feature a Convertible Variant: Comes With a Soft Top
It was previously reported that the upcoming model of Scion FR-S will be a convertible edition of Toyota and Subaru’s rear-wheel-drive sport coupe. It seems it is going to happen as reports close to the automaker say so. If the newest reports are to be believed, the convertible Scion FR-S will feature a soft top and will arrive sometime in late 2013 or early 2014. The FR-S stands for Front-engine Rear-wheel-drive Sport and the vehicle is expected to sprint from 0-60 mph in just 6.2 seconds with a top speed of 143 mph.
Powered by a 2.0 liter naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder horizontally opposed engine, the Scion FR-S is more likely featuring Toyota’s D-4S injection system. Combined with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic, the engine produces 200-hp at 7,000 rpm with a maximum torque of 151 lb-ft at 6,600 rpm. The 2013 Scion FR-S will probably go on sale in the spring of 2012. The price of the new vehicle starts at $24,930.
