In a unique move, Ford Switzerland launched a special edition of Ford Focus R-S WRC exclusively for the Swiss. The launch is the result of a program initiated by the company to commemorate forty years of the Blue Oval’s performance model. The special launch is also a homage to the Ford Escort RS1600 launched in 1970 according to a press release of Ford Switzerland.
Even though the Swiss are not known for their affinity to cars, quite a lot of them took part in a design competition organized by Ford as a part of their celebration program in October 2009. The unique graphics on the Ford Focus R-S WRC is the result of the competition. Ford has converted people’s imagination in to a reality by unveiling this highly-customized vehicle.
A 2.5 litre turbocharged engine will power Ford’s Swiss vehicle, the Ford Focus R-S WRC, and can generate up to 305 hp, coupled with 400 Nm of torque. The commemoration vehicle will be able to reach a max speed of 162mph (260 km/h) with a sprint of less than 6 seconds. According to the press release, the launch will be kept limited to only 50 exclusive units. Each piece of the vehicle will cost around 55,900 Swiss francs.
