Hybrid Tech To Be Used In McLaren Supercars- Confirmed

McLaren MP4-12C

Ever since April, when McLaren chief Ron Dennis declared that his company has undergone a few major changes, which included the separation of McLaren’s racing and automotive divisions, and the expansion of their production capacity, people have started wondering a lot. Most of these thoughts struggled around to find clues of any supercar-plans on the cards for the English car company.

And like rumors usually are, this one just got confirmed too. Though McLaren prefers to follow its policy of taciturnity, their latest recruitment drive has eased all the speculations. As the advert goes, McLaren is looking for an electrical engineer who can work on “a concept, design and development of the electrical package and wiring system for a hybrid electric vehicle”. That does not really leave much room for doubts, eh?

The company spokesman thought he was being evasive when he finally noted that hybrid technology is something that McLaren is looking at and assessing. It is something which just interests them. Last time we paused to look at McLaren’s ad in July looking for a senior engineer in powertrain hybrid technology, the spokesman then added quite matter-of-factly that the advertisement did not indicate anything. We could “read into it what you will”.

We are happy though, because lately we have been hearing of competitors like Lamborghini and Ferrari working on hybrid powertrains. It is about time the Britons did something about it.
