Worlds Fastest Police Hummer
In 2006, a Texas Sheriff wanted his personal emergency vehicle, a Hummer H2, to be converted to the fastest police hummer in the world. And he knew exactly whom he had to approach; Geiger Cars, a German car tuner specialized in modifying American cars. The Geiger range of tuned cars include brands like Cadillac, Infiniti, Chevrolet, Corvette, Ford, Dodge, Chrysler, Hummer, Jeep, Pontiac, Lincoln and Buick. Geiger Cars mainly works on engine and suspension modifications.
The result was a Geiger Hummer H2 Kompressor that has its top speed electronically limited to 155 miles per hour. It can accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in a sports car like 6.2 seconds. Mind you, we are still talking of a monster which weighs 7000 pounds. To achieve this mind-boggling performance, Geiger had to replace the Hummer’s engine with a much more substantial 7.0 liter V8.
The V8 uses a belt driven supercharger to produce an astonishing 700 horsepower and a torque output of 904 Newton meters, enough to tow half of Texas. The engine can trace its roots back to the LS7 engine that comes in a Corvette. To handle the extra power, Geiger has fitted the engine with a larger sports intake and exhaust manifold and sports camshaft. The engine head has been redesigned for the increased volume of gases that will now have to flow through it. In order to handle the extra load, the engine gets stainless steel sports exhaust, precision balanced crankshaft, forged pistons and titanium connecting rods.
The power is transferred to a modified four wheel drive system through a four speed automatic gearbox. The suspension has been upgraded with stiffer springs and dampers all around along with stiffer anti roll bars to improve the handling. The car has 380 mm perforated ventilated disc brakes all around that uses eight fixed pistons per caliper so as to provide the extra stopping power. The car has an enormous 28 inch forged wheels that has a 325mm wide rubber with ultra low profile. The Massive rims make this mammoth car seem smaller than the 7000 pound car it actually is. The ride height has been lowered by 105 millimeters.
All these performance and handling however, will come at the price of practicality. Do not be surprised if this car struggles to run a mile for every gallon of fuel. The lowered ride height, sway bars and the ultra low profile tires will render the car utterly useless off the road. The stiffer springs and dampers will give the hummer a bone crushing ride. But writing this car as totally useless will be missing the point of this car. This car, is by and large the coolest police car in the country. This is one car criminals will fear. Seeing this monster in the rear view mirror would be like Arnold Schwarzenegger coming behind you with a rocket launcher in his hand. Be very scared!
