2012 Chevy Camaro ZL1 Hits Production

Chevrolet’s most powerful Camaro ZL1 is slated to roll out of its Oshawa Assembly facility this spring with production having started yesterday in full swing. The coupe will be priced at $54,995. The convertible will be made available only a few months later. Both the versions will carry the same 6.2-liter supercharged V8, which comes with factory-set figures of 580 horsepower and 556 pound-feet of torque.

Chevy’s acclaimed most powerful version of the Camaro will have the capability to do the quarter mile in under 12.1 seconds at a speed of 119 mph to go all the way to a top speed of 180 mph. Kevin Williams, President and Managing Director of General Motors Canada believes that the new ZL1 scripts a new chapter in the story of the Camaro. He also adds that the production of the vehicle only goes on to display the flexible capabilities of award-winning Oshawa Assembly Plant.

According to Dan Hermer, Plant Manager of the Oshawa Assembly Plant, it was through a disciplined approach and a relentless focus on execution that the company was able to ensure that the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 was built with the highest possible standards.
