Audi Q2 Scheduled to be Unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Show
The Audi Q2, in terms of design, has elements from both the Quattro concept of 2010 and the Volkswagen Cross Coupe concept shown at last year’s Tokyo Motor Show. The vehicle will be powered by a five cylinder (two gasoline and three diesel) engine. Petrol options will consist of 120bhp and 170bhp versions of the 1.4-litre EA211, with cylinder deactivation on the lower-powered unit, while the diesels will include an upcoming 110bhp variant of the 1.6-litre EA827 along with 150bhp and 180bhp versions of the 2.0-litre EA288. Buyers will have the choice of a six-speed manual transmission or seven speed DSG transmission and front-or all-wheel drive.
The Q2 is one of the four additions to Audi’s current three-strong line-up of SUV models. Body styles are still being decided but you can expect a two-door concept at the Paris Motor Show later this year. Audi is also planning a performance-orientated Q2 S with a 225bhp version of the 2.0-litre turbo EA888 engine — the same unit destined for the next-generation Golf GTI. With a sporty three door body the Q2 will preview at the Paris Show in September. The definitive production model is scheduled to be unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Show with a more practical five-door body and an angled tailgate.
