McLaren MP4-12C Sold Out for Next Three Years
If you are planning to buy a MP4-12C from McLaren, then we have some disappointing news for you. The car is sold out for the next three years and the automaker has no intention to boost up the production to meet such overwhelming demands.
When the British automaker launched this supercar back in 2009, it created a lot of excitement amongst auto enthusiasts. As the first McLaren supercar was launched almost 20 years ago, such excitement and expectations were not a surprise. And now the automaker has announced that its order books are filled for next three years. Also, McLaren dealers around the globe are trying to procure as many units as they can because of the high demand of this car.
Explaining the company’s decision to not boost the production, McLaren’s regional director for the Middle East, Asia and Africa, Ian Gorsuch, told that the profit margins for the authorized dealers will be increased if the production is kept less. This will also increase the residual value of the car according to him. He also added that the dealers should have stocks more than their competitors for future profitability.
The current plan of the automaker is to produce 1000 units of this car per annum for the first year. It may be increased slightly depending on the circumstances. Fitted with a 3.8 liter twin-turbo V8 engine producing 592 hp at 7,000 rpm and 443 lb-ft of maximum torque between 3,000 rpm to 7,000 rpm, this car is already called as the best supercar in its segment. The car sprints from 0-62 mph in 3.3 seconds and clocks a top speed of 205 mph. The McLaren MP4-12C comes with a price tag of $231,400.
