Honda CR-V is a compact SUV made by Honda which became the best-selling SUV in the US overtaking Ford Explorer. Produced as both all wheel drive and rear-wheel drive, the CR-V is loosely derived from the Honda Civic as a sport-utility vehicle from Honda. The CR-V was first launched in 1996, and it has gone through three generations now. Honda will now bring a refreshed version of the US model 2010 CR-V. The new model comes with upgrades and redesign of both the exterior and interior, along with a more powerful engine powering the vehicle.
The new interior comes with added functionality and higher-utility accessories. The models equipped with the Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System will now have a Bluetooth Hands-Free-Link. However, auto on/off headlights are now standard on the EX-L grade. Moreover, the front seats with wider-center armrests are standard. The exterior has also received some neat restyling. Notable changes include a mildly redesigned front arrangement with a new grille and a new bumper. It also features a restyled hood and rear bumper body, plus new alloy wheel designs.
Changes also come under the hood to the engine. It has an upgraded K series, 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder engine that comes with the CR-V. This is linked to an electronically controlled 5-speed, automatic transmission. This produces an improved output of 180HP, compared to the 166 horsepower of the 2009 CR-V. The outstanding fact is that the increment in power boost comes hand in hand with an improved city/highway EPA fuel economy. The fuel economy figures point to 21/28 mpg in two wheel drive models and 21/27 mpg on four wheel drives. This apparently is an increase of 1 mpg in highway and city driving on all models.
The new 2010 CR-V is on sale at US with the starting price at $22,545 for the entry-level LX 2WD. The top-grade EX-L 4WD with Navi will cost a $30,455. More details are given below:
