2010 MV Agusta Brutale 990R Launch
MV Agusta introduced the new 990R model Brutale ahead of its 10-year anniversary. The basic Brutale, a prestigious motorcycle with its fascinating design, speed and power was famous all over the world. Although the 2010 Brutale does not look much different compared to its previous generation, they feature momentous changes like new headlight and instrument cluster, redesigned handlebar, rearview mirrors, as well as bodywork and technical fittings.
85% of the parts of the old Brutale model have been thoroughly redesigned. The work carried out on the 990R is a silent MV Agusta revolution. Brutale 990R has appealing aesthetics. The redesigned headlight has a new poly- ellipsoidal unit and an 8 LEDs system that create a “light-strip” effect like the found only on cars. The instrument cluster has a style keeping with the updated, slender features of the bodywork. It is designed to fit an interchangeable, personalized cover. There is an indicator showing the rev-count, gear engaged, the fuel-level, the speed, the water-temperature and the chronometer function with laps & timing memory. The handlebar is flexible, comfortable and reduces the vibration level. The rearview mirrors are larger and have greater visibility. The arm reduces vibrations and improves stability. They house LED direction indicators which are perfectly incorporated into the rear-mirror assembly. The ignition-block is very modern and is fitted with an immobilizer.
Bodywork and technical fittings are stylized. The air ducts are large with direct additional airflow. The radiator protections integrated with the mechanical components. The thin, modern tail makes sitting comfortable. The LED taillight has a new design of pressure die-cast in aluminum. The two beautiful exhausts have been enhanced, featuring cuts that match the bodywork. The external engine supports are sleeker and are ornamented with the MV logos. The 990R version comes in two colors- Red or Black, with Silver tank side panels. The feisty in-line four-cylinder engine now sports a full 998cc capacity. The claimed horsepower and torque are 139-hp at 10.600rpm and 106Nm @8.000rpm. The reconfiguration of the 4-cylinders with the 16 radial-valves make power delivery smoother, with a progressive & solid response than before, especially when accelerating and when opening-closing and. The latest Marelli 5SM ECU provides the traction control management in 8 adjustment stages.
Transmission is 6-speed, clutch-wet, constant-mesh. There is also a new Neodymium Iron Boron-generator, cooled by high-pressure internal oil-jet, which together with a damper that has an elastomer vibration-canceling-system and the new transmission system save full 3.52 lbs. Engine’s performance has been optimized to enhance drivability & power delivery, which are further improved by the new exhaust system that has a choke-valve which is operated by the injection-control-unit.
The new chassis features a tall frame and a long swing-arm for lighter weight and increased stability. The new die-cast wheels are lighter than on the 989R. It all comes together to offer a stable and safe ride at both high and low speeds. The fully-adjustable 50mm Marzocchi front-suspension is steady on the brakes far into corners and subtle over bumps. At the back, the new MV Agusta Brutale uses a Sachs-mono-shock only adjustable for preload.Priced at $15,000, the 2010 Brutale 990R is a hot-pick with its handling, eclectic elegance and charm that thrills even the casual admirer.
