The new Hyundai Tucson will make its global debut in the upcoming motor show, in Frankfurt, this September. The new SUV will be called ix35 in Europe and the rest of the world, except North America where the Tucson name will be retained. The new Tucson has got a curvy redesign which looks more aggressive and is characterized by a steeply, racked windshield. It has got creased shoulder line and larger tires. The car was styled in Germany at Hyundai’s European design center. The ix35 will join the C segment and replace the old Tucson. Along with the ix35, Santa Fe will also get a cosmetic change and a delicate tune in the driving experience. Hyundai has been leading the SUV market in Europe through the last decade. The new SUV will surely boost sales and revenue. The SUV market has gone up from 5.6% to 18% in the span of two years from 2000-20002.

Tucson has been in the top 10 SUV in the C segment since 2004. Over 63,000 units have been sold in Europe and this accounts for 20% of sales in this class. The ix35 is the first SUV to be engineered and conceived in Europe, and it will join the i55 and revised Santa Fe. The new SUV has got most of the styling from the ix-concept car which was showcased in Geneva motor exhibition earlier this year. The car has got a Fluidic sculpture, and it is extremely curvaceous.  From the teaser picture, it is well clear that there are notable differences from the ix concept car. The rear light sweeps up more sharply from the rear wing and looks remarkably appealing. High tech material which is used on the concept car is not viable to be used in the production car. The front of the ix35 would look particularly similar to the concept car. According to sources, the hexagonal-front grille will be present on all the future models of Hyundai.
This new SUV is sportier and much lower than the old Tucson. The ix35 will give a tough competition to the rival SUVs such as The Nissan Qashqai, Ford Kuga and Volkswagen Tiguan. The car will feature the 2.0 liter engine which uses Hyundai’s ‘Idle Stop and Go’ engine with stop start system. In the entry level models, a small-capacity petrol engine is expected. The ix35 is expected to be launched in both four wheel drive, and front wheel drive versions. The 4 wheel drive versions may be available only for the higher-spec model. Most of the buyers are expected to opt for the cheaper two wheel drive model than the 4 wheel drive. The expected price is around £15,000. Though the whereabouts of SUV relating its performance is not revealed by the automakers, they are dead confident that Tucson would meet consumer expectations and also help to shape the sector itself. The modifications done to the steering and suspension truly makes it a hit maker on the road and off road.
