Legendary Yenko is Getting Set for a Come Back
Yenko Camaro - the legendary muscle car is getting set for a comeback. It opens up new hopes for the Camaro fans as they are awaiting the 40th anniversary celebrations of 1969 Yenko Camaro. The initiative is taken by Jeff Leonard, a muscle-car enthusiast and an owner of the original 1968 Yenko Camaro. Through his marketing firm, he is working on the reincarnation of the famous brand-name and possibly will bring out some existing project cars.

The original 1960s Yenko was available only from Don Yenko, a Chevrolet dealer through outlets in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. He used GM’s special order program- the Central Office Production Order (COPO) program, for fleet vehicles like taxi cabs, police cars, etc to order the most powerful of Chevy’s vehicles available. The first of factory hot rod was the Yenko Stinger Corvair. The other Yenko classics of that time were the Yenko Super Camaro, Chevelle, Deuce, Super Nova, Camaro Turbo Z and Vega Stinger which were among the fastest SCCA race-cars ever produced. The 1968 Yenko Camaro was in gorgeous blue with a 427 motor and M-21, four-speed manual.
Leonard is the man behind the General Marketing Capital Incorporated (GMCI) Company, which currently owns the trademark of the Yenko brand. Leonard has revealed in an official announcement his plans to rebuild several cars along with a limited production vehicle manufacturer, as well as release a brand new Yenko. GMCI also plans to launch a new-online home for the Yenko brand in coming weeks. It will include provision for the owners and enthusiasts to find information about future cars and products, gain historical information about the Yenko brand, register to be a member of the site’s forums and lots more.
GMCI also promises to treat the legend Don Yenko, who died in 1987, with the utmost degree of integrity and respect. If everything goes by GMCI’s plans, we can expect new Yenko products based on the latest 2010 Chevrolet Camaro and as well as the Corvette.
